Shure mic, wooden stool,
cables, amp. cigarette buds.
instrumental-men-surround.
checking sound - two-three-four…
inhale – one last passed
around.
lights lay low, mellow mode,
start to float…
tempo… slow…
break – - – - -
play-talk, flirt and fling…
swing-or shuffle
-sing
airy lows, diction, flow.
impossible to hide the load-
invent – unfold – avoid the sold.
fallin’ free through shifting tunnels,
meter needs fast drive.
rhythms, groove, mo–tion soaring ———
erratic-in– my-mind:
stuck – scratched record plays re-plays
re-plays old ways, yeah- purple haze
naked scenes, fresh flesh, lean…
mem-ries vague, missed details
One too blind, too deaf to feel
lyrics lusty – crime revealed.
dare to sing too clear for him…
wand-ring eyes, embrace, unwind…
I live for this.
sigh…
must leave be-
hind.

Wow powerful images your bring forth with this peice and love the word play, espiecally “One too blind, too deaf to feel”
Thank you, Pat. I appreciate it!
There is a pulse and rhythm in your poem…its actually new to me as I don’t listen to music when I write (I write in absolute silence)…
Have you ever thought of recording your poems so we can listen to it ?
Hi Heaven,
I do record my songs ( did you listen & read “Glittering Stars”?)
I can’t do it like Claudia though… Not that I’ve tried
nice..i like this a lot…love the ref to music through out…the Break, mic…and your close is artisticall done as well which adds emphaisis…i like listening to music as i write…
Fabulous you really grab the atmosphere of the music carrying you along …loved it thank you x
You took me back to the days when I used to take to the stage, the boys ready to back me up, and all that wonderful other stuff that comes after so many pints and smokes with no filters. Thank god I kept it to water, or the tales would have been totally different!
Thanks for this write…love the pace, the intertwined rhyme..you rocked the mic!
I’m so glad you connected to it. I didn’t know you performed… Pray tell…;)
I’m there. Love the smooth jazzy feel of this. Nice.
